Newsfirst Multimedia is the parent company of an independent press group that publishes 4 community regional newspapers, has 7 regional websites and a multimedia creative and printing company Mediatrek.
Newsfirst Multimedia was founded in March of 1993 with the publication of Nouvelles Park-Extension News a bilingual regional community paper in the Montreal district of Park-Extension. In August of the same year (5 months later) a second paper was published under the name of Nouvelles Chomedey News. The latter evolved from a bilingual publication to a unilingual English paper The Chomedey News. Since 2007 the title has changed to The Laval News due to the expansion of its distribution area across the city of Laval. Serving the north shore suburbs of Rosemère, Two Mountains, Lorraine and Blainville, The North Shore News is the third publication created in April of 2005. Both The Laval News and The North Shore News are the only English media that serve the citizens of Laval and those of the North Shore suburbs of Montreal. In September of 2007 Newsfirst Multimedia created The Greek Canadian News (TA NEA) serving the Greek Canadian citizens across the metropolitan region of Montreal.

Newsfirst Multimedia publications are members of the Quebec Community Newspaper Association and have year after year won awards conferred for editorial content and graphic design. The most recent awards also included lavalnews.ca, voted best community newspaper website.
The newspapers content is dedicated to exploring local issues and strive to give its readers an objective and critical assessment of events that mark our times. They feature up-to-date political and social stories along with poignant and quick witted commentary on subjects that affect not only our local readers but Canadians as a whole from coast to coast. Unlike many community newspapers, our publications frequently go beyond the story, to isolate the focal point of events that shape the region, the province, the country and the world.
